The moment nine year old Anthony was told that he was going to be a big brother, he jumped into his dad’s arms, wrapped his own arms around his dad’s neck and hugged as tightly as he could. He asked several times, “really?” and then began rattling off questions.
He was genuinely excited to be a big brother which came as a huge relief to his dad.
Several weeks previous, when there was only the suspicion of a new baby, Anthony’s dad had asked a similar question.
“Hey Anthony, how would you feel about having a little brother or sister?” To which Anthony had responded:
“Gross! Babies are loud and they smell bad.”
